Looking to continue a more plant based diet beyond Veganuary? With lockdown unfortunately still around for the foreseeable and no dinner nights out in the horizon, we thought we’d share our favourite vegan meal kits to help you eat more plants.
1) HelloFresh
HelloFresh is making it easier than even to power your week with plant based goodness. No more heated debates around “what’s for dinner tonight?”. All you’ve got to do is pick a plan, choose your recipes, get your order, cook and enjoy. Their sourcing, packing, and shipping operations generate less food waste than traditional food retailers, therefore combating one of the major issues contributing to climate change. Every week, you can pick between a wide range of vegetarian and vegan recipes.
You can also add on some yummy extras, like our very own BOL super soups.
Still not convinced? Check out next week’s menu. Here at BOL, we think the South East Asian Inspired Chickpea Curry could be a winner.
HelloFresh, from £3.25 per serving
2) Pasta Evangelists
Pasta Evangelists are taking pasta to a whole new level. Wanting to show that there is so much more to pasta than meets the eye, they’re on a mission to spread the joy of fresh, high-quality, hand-crafted pasta by delivering artisanal pasta dishes across the UK.
Their menu changes weekly and offers at least two vegan and two vegetarian options so you can treat yourself to restaurant-quality pasta, delivered straight to your door. You’ll receive pre-portioned pasta and authentic sauces and garnishes, complete with easy instructions to make a meal in five minutes. Think Pumpkin & Sage Ravioli with Wild Rocket Sauce, Spaghetti alla Puttanesca, Aubergine & Sun-Dried Tomato Triangoli or Orecchiette with Pistachio Pesto.
They’ve always got great offers on so keep an eye out.
Pasta Evangelists, from £6 per portion
3) Dishoom vegan naan roll kit for two
One silver lining from lockdown is that there is no need to queue for hours to try out Dishoom’s delicious meals. Dishoom has rolled out a cook-at-home kit featuring everything you’ll need for two people to enjoy a plant based version of their famous breakfast naan (with an extra naan dough ball for experimentation). You can now enjoy their Vegan Sausage Naan Rolls at home at any time of day, with vegan sausages specially developed by renowned chef Neil Rankin.
With Chai spices and loose-leaf tea, brunch is sorted.
Even better, for every kit ordered, they donate a meal to Magic Breakfast.
“It feels rewarding to make something that looks so impressive and tastes so delicious, without too much effort” Huffington Post
Dishroom, £16 (serves 2)
4) Birtelli’s pizza kits
We couldn’t not include a pizza kit in our list and wanted to shout out about Birtelli. Based in the lovely town of Leamington-Spa, this family owned start-up is bringing you crafted artisan pizza using good, honest and natural ingredients. Their executive chef gained a Michelin star at Stratford-upon-Avon’s Salt and certainly knows its pizza.
You get to choose between their stone baked crafted bases, gluten-free bases or dough balls, accompanied by freshly prepped toppings that are portioned for great taste and zero waste – think artichokes, wild mushrooms, olives and sun blush tomatoes. You can also add plant based cheese and craft beer to your order, so what’s not to like.
Birtelli's, from £16.99 for 2
6) A Kind Mama baking kits
Last but not least, dessert! A Kind Mama has filled the void of delicious plant based cakes that are entirely free from dairy and look every bit as good as they taste. You get to choose between a Vanilla cupcakes baking kit, Oreo Brownies, Double Chocolate Cookies or Lotus Biscoff Brownies.
Feeling lazy? They deliver vegan homemade brownies, blondies and cupcakes; as well as a Brownie Subscription box. That’s dessert sorted.
